Greywacke Late Harvest Riesling, 2011
A Riesling…sweet as candy!
Greywacke is the name of the exceptional bedrock that dominates the ground of this region and it is indicative of the role it plays in the vintner’s philosophy.
The grapes of this specific variety are cultivated in compact clay and soils rich in this particular rock in the vineyard of Ashmore in Fairhall, right beside the Brancott Valley.
Sweet white wine.
Riesling variety from Marlborough in New Zealand.
The specific vineyard is cultivated according organic principles and the harvest is picked by hand and fairly late in the season, so that there will be a noticeable presence of Brotytis (noble rot) in the grapes.
The result is a nose dominated by fragrances of exotic flowers, citrus sweet preserves and vanilla cream.
The mouthfeel is rich and filling, with a taste of fruit jam, caramelized nuts, caramel cream, great lengthy finish and 12% alcohol.
